A little experiment using machine learning to detect impact craters.
I've read that's it's pretty hard to count impact craters. They can merge together and craters can be in layered over time, larger craters can have many child impact creaters within them. You can see this especially on the lunar surface.
I've been interested in astronomy as a hobby for many years and I'm a professional software developer with an interest in machine learning and Ai technologies.
So crater detection seemed an ideal challenge!
